The White
of Château de Pibarnon

Le Blanc du Château de Pibarnon 2008

Grape variety

- 45% CLAIRETTE (finesse and elegance). - 30% BOURBOULENC (freshness and liveliness) - 25 % LOCAL GRAPE VARIETIES (Roussane & Viognier, for the complexity of the bouquet...)

Located on north slopes (colder), the white grapes are planted on a very interesting soil: BLUE MARL from the SANTONIAN geological period, same as Petrus or Chateau-Chalon. Altitude 900 ft.

Traditional method. Fermented at low temperature, slowly during 25 days. No wood, aging 6 month in tank.

As complex as refined, the 2008 seduces immediately by its remarkable bouquet of fruit and white flowers, which prolongs on floral notes like verbena or anise. The mouth presents a texture resolutely worthy of the "Great Gastronomy:”: particularly lively and fleshy (Bourboulenc), it also knows being fine and delicate (Clairette). In sum, a pure and precise wine.

A great vintage in the south of France. A supply of water (during the winter and spring) slightly higher than what we had in the last five years, has been particularly beneficial to the balance of the plant. A mild spring which has preceded a beautiful hot and dry summer. Temperatures began to decline gradually from mid-August. Consequently, a slower ripening berries has helped to preserve the maximum of freshness and purity in the wine.

Hand picked grapes, with a small team of pickers. A grapes selection is made in the vineyard.

Less than 30 Hl/ha.
